DAY 1: LEADERSHIP REFRESHER TRAINING FOR PSYCHOSOCIAL COUNSELLORS/PROVIDERS

Youth Impact has officially launched a 3-day Leadership Refresher Training for psychosocial counsellors at Superior Lodge in Liwonde. The training started yesterday, Wednesday, 31 July 2025, and will run until Saturday, 2 August 2025. It was officially opened by the District Commissioner for Machinga, Mr. Rodrick Mateauma, and attended by key district officials including the Director of Planning and Development, Principal Gender Officer, District Community Development Officer, District Youth Officer, Youth Friendly Health Services Coordinator, and other stakeholders.

The training brings together community counsellors working with adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) under the Technology and Empowerment Enhancing Networks (TEENs) project in Machinga. Day 1 focused on strengthening leadership skills, improving psychosocial support, and managing safe spaces. Discussions covered challenges faced by girls, leadership styles, group dynamics, conflict management, and child rights, including sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).

This training is part of ongoing efforts to improve trauma-informed care and support for AGYW. It is being supported by the Embassy of Ireland through UNFPA, in partnership with MAGGA.
