MODEL KHOLA CONSTRUCTION UNDER THE NEW GOATS PASS ON PROJECT
GOATS PASS ON
We are making steady progress in the implementation of the new goats pass on project following the successful training of beneficiaries at Limbikani CBCC in T/A Mtira. The training equipped participants with knowledge on goat management, housing and general animal care.
Yesterday, we visited the project site to witness the construction of a model goats shelter locally known as khola, which will guide beneficiaries as they begin constructing their own goat shelters. The model khola is intended to demonstrate proper standards for safe, clean, and durable goat housing.
The construction process is being led by the Government Veterinary and Livestock Officer, ensuring that all kholas are built according to recommended livestock management standards. This practical guidance is helping beneficiaries understand the correct techniques for constructing suitable shelters using locally available materials.
This Project is funded by The Headley Trust, whose support continues to enable sustainable livestock development at community level. With training completed and khola construction underway, we are now seeing the project transition from learning to action, bringing us closer to improved livelihoods for the beneficiaries.
