NEW TOILETS AND CHANGING ROOM TRANSFORM KAYUNI PRIMARY SCHOOL

Youth Impact Organisation has donated a girls’ toilet and changing room facility worth K7 million to Kayuni Primary School in the area of T/A Sale in Machinga. The initiative, funded by the Headley Trust with additional support from the Hilden Charitable Fund, targets a hard-to-reach community where over 900 girls out of 1,767 learners were relying on only five toilets, with one being used as a changing room.

As Youth Impact, we took on this work after observing how the lack of proper sanitation and a safe changing space was forcing many girls to stay home during their menstruation. Our goal is to create an environment where every girl feels safe, comfortable, and supported to remain in school.

We have also trained mother groups to produce reusable pads to ensure girls have ongoing support and do not miss classes during their menstruation periods. This donation is part of our commitment to improving girls’ education and dignity in underserved communities.
