In a vital step toward fostering transparency and robust community alignment, the Youth Impact Organisation, alongside its technical consultants, recently convened a high-level engagement meeting with the Machinga District Gender Technical Working Group (GTWG). The strategic gathering brought together key government officials, civil development partners, and local stakeholders to review the current trajectory of the TEENS Project. By pulling these diverse groups into the same room, the session served a dual purpose: providing comprehensive updates on recent project milestones and deeply strengthening multi-sectoral collaboration across the assessment and implementation phases. Crucially, the meeting also solidified Machinga District's designation as the official control study area for the project's upcoming survey, a critical component that will provide the baseline data needed to measure the initiative's long-term success.
While the momentum is building in Machinga, the TEENS Project actually maintains a broad regional framework designed to transform the lives of adolescents and young people across three key Malawian districts: Lilongwe, Balaka, and Machinga. Within Machinga itself, the project is being deeply embedded into the community fabric, specifically targeting operations in the Traditional Authorities of Nchinguza, Mizinga, Ngokwe, and Sale. By focusing on these specific locales, the project ensures that its interventions are tailored to the unique socio-economic realities of the local youth demographic.
The ambitious scope of the TEENS Project is made possible through a powerful coalition of international development partners and dedicated grassroots organizations. The initiative is generously supported by the Embassy of Ireland through the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), while on-the-ground execution and community mobilization are driven by a dynamic partnership between the Malawi Girl Guides Association (MAGGA) and the Youth Impact Organisation. Through continuous dialogues like the Machinga GTWG engagement, the project ensures that local ownership, government alignment, and data-driven strategy remain at the absolute heart of its mission.
