YIO PARTNERS WITH MACHINGA DISTRICT COUNCIL TO LAUNCH INTEGRATED CATCHMENT MANAGEMENT AND IRRIGATION PROGRAMME

We partnered with Machinga District Council to officially launch the Integrated Catchment Management and Irrigation Programme, an initiative aimed at helping communities build resilience against the impacts of El Niño through sustainable catchment conservation and irrigation practices.

The programme focuses on protecting natural resources while increasing access to irrigation, enabling farming households to produce food throughout the year. By promoting climate-smart approaches, the initiative seeks to improve food and nutrition security, strengthen livelihoods, and create greater economic opportunities for communities.

The launch brought together community members, local leaders, government officials, and development partners, demonstrating a shared commitment to addressing climate-related challenges through collective action.

Held yesterday at Village Headman Jumantopa's area in Traditional Authority Liwonde, Machinga District, the event marked the beginning of a collaborative effort to support communities in adapting to climate change while safeguarding the natural resources they depend on for their future.
