YOUTH IMPACT TRAINS 60 MENTORS TO SUPPORT GIRLS THROUGH SAFE SPACES IN MACHINGA

As Youth Impact, we are proud to reach the final day of our 3-day Safe Space Mentorship Training in Machinga. This training has been an important step in building the capacity of 60 mentors from Traditional Authorities (T/As) Sale, Ngokwe, Nchinguza, and Mizinga, who will be supporting adolescent girls and young women in their communities. From the start, we focused on helping mentors understand the challenges that girls face, especially in accessing sexual and reproductive health services. We also introduced the Safe Space Model, which is at the heart of our work.

Over the three days, mentors have been taken through different sessions on mentorship ethics, communication, decision-making, gender equality, child marriage, and other key topics that will help them guide and support girls effectively. We also looked at practical issues like financial literacy, business skills, and referral pathways so that mentors can connect girls to the right services.

We believe that the knowledge and skills shared during this training will make a real difference in the lives of the girls we serve. The mentors are now well equipped to create safe, inclusive, and empowering spaces where girls can learn, grow, and dream big.

We are grateful to all the facilitators, district teams, and everyone who took part in this training. A big thank you to the Embassy of Ireland through UNFPA and our partners at MAGGA for the support and partnership. As Youth Impact, we remain committed to building strong mentors and safe spaces for our girls across Machinga and beyond.
